Welcome to the Canadian chapter of the International College of Applied Kinesiology, home for certified members in Applied Kinesiology (AK). Applied Kinesiology is a complementary approach that uses muscle testing for the functional evaluation of the human body. In Canada, most practitioners in applied kinesiology are chiropractors, doctors of osteopathic medicine and naturopathic doctors, depending on the province. Only health professionals entitled to diagnosis can be certified to include applied kinesiology in their care.
Treatments by healthcare professionals using Applied Kinesiology can be at the bio-mechanical level (example: manipulations and therapeutic exercises). The evaluation can include some biochemical or nutritional recommendations (such as supplements). The evaluation can include an emotional part (listening to the patient, breathing, visualization and referral to a specialized professional (such as a psychologist). The approach uses muscle testing in conjunction with other standard diagnostic methods.
Studying or practicing Applied Kinesiology is restricted to healthcare professionals who are licensed to diagnose (MD, DC, DO, ND, DMD – depending on provincial regulatory bodies).
